Who watches the Watchmen...

For any of you who have read the graphic novel, Zach Snyder's adaptation of Watchmen is a film we have eagrely awaited. For years, the unfilmable comic has been greenlit and subsequently pulled from production. Finally, it is upon us. Here is the teaser. The first glimpse of the film is here, and boy, is it something to behold. Hyperbole aside, this will be unlike any comic book movie that has come before. 2009 seems like an age away.

The trailer.

Too much 300, not enough Dawn of the Dead. While I never quite managed to read the graphic novel (ask Tom), my understanding is that it is a story of some depth. I don't think Snyder has it in him, visual talent or not.

Oh, myself and Tom already had a conversation about you and 300!! Since I walked out of 300, I've said I look forward to Snyder getting his hands on something with a bit of substance. 300, the film, is pretty much an exact adaptation of the graphic novel. In fact, Snyder added a little to the movie to fill it out. Believe me, you'd read 300 in about 10 minutes. From this teaser, it looks like Snyder's on exactly the right track with Watchmen. I don't think the guy's infalible, but I do believe that he has the chops to do the comic justice.

I didn't write that correctly... It's Watchmen I never read (although I never read 300 either...), I had it beside my bed in Dundrum for about 10 months before I moved out. I'm on a very "low expectations" kind of buzz, i'm doing the same with Dark Knight since Batman Begins had such a poor story...

Incidentally, I went to Indiana Jones again... A whole lot better the second time. Only the sword fighting and the tarzaning were still really painful.
